Stargazing sessions and star parties
Monthly overnight sessions for the public, with planets, galaxies, nebulae and star clusters.
Every month we hold a stargazing session for the general public. It is an overnight event where you can observe, and get first-hand experience of, the heavens above us. We bring professional-grade, powerful telescopes.
Through them you can see:
- Planets and their surface features: Saturn with its mesmerising rings, Jupiter with its cloud bands and Galilean moons, Venus and its phases (just like our own Moon), red Mars, tiny Mercury, and Uranus and Neptune in their pale blue colours.
- Galaxies, nebulae and star clusters in their full glory and stunning beauty.
Each month is packed with different wonders in the sky. Meteor showers happen throughout the year, and the best of them put on a spectacular show of around a hundred meteors an hour. If you are lucky, you may catch a sporadic fireball or even a bolide, which can leave a smoke trail and be so bright that it casts shadows.
